Welcome to the Lifelong Learning Center of Lexington County School District Three.  This facility assists with Adult and Community Education.  Please note we do offer virtual classes for those just a course or two short of attaining their high school diploma.  We offer many other courses to aid those who do not have a high school credential.  We also offer CNA and WorkKeys classes.  Thank you for visiting our website.

School Hours:  7:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday

Adult Education Hours:  5:30 - 9:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday  GED, Basic, WorkKeys, CNA
                                     5:30 - 8:30 pm Monday and Wednesday ESL
                                      9:00 am - 12:00 noon Monday and Wednesday GED  
                                      

 
Classes begin August 24, 2009 
 
Please be prepared to pay your fees and complete a student information form between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm at the Lifelong Learning Center. Please bring your drivers license and social security card.
You may register at any time after this date for GED, ESL, Basic Classes or WorkKeys. There is an open enrollment for those specific classes.  Classes that have specific start and end dates are Certified Nursing Assistant, Paraprofessional and Substitute Training.
 
GED Day:
Begins, Monday, August 24.
Age requirements: Suggested student ages are 17 by December 7, 2009 and under the age of 21 to attend day classes.  If you are over 21, you may attend day classes
Classes Meet Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. GED students will work on GED test taking skills and the 5 subjects that are on the test (Math, Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies)
Cost: $40.00 registration fee for classes
State GED testing is available in Batesburg-Leesville on December 4, 2009.

GED Night:

GED STATE TEST FEE IS $80.00.
  
Basic Education Classes:

Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:30—8:30. For adults who wish to improve their reading, writing and math skills.  Classes begin August 25, 2009.

  

C.N.A. Certified Nursing Assistant.   

Begin Date: November 10, 2009

How to register: Call (803) 532-2141 as soon as you receive this flyer. You should pre-register for the course. Come in to the Lifelong Learning Center and complete an application any time between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm. Class size is limited. It is a first come, first served class! This class does fill up very quickly!

Classes will meet at the Lifelong Learning Center. You must attend ALL 92 hours!!
Clinical time will be assigned once the course has started. Hours to complete the course: 92 hours. 
Cost: $450.00, a payment plan is available. You must pay $90.00 down to sign up for the class. $90.00 every other week must be paid after that. Note: if you opt for the payment plan, remember that the class is over-booked so if you fall behind on your payments, you may be moved to an alternate list. Everyone will have to pay for a complete physical and provide a nurse’s uniform before they start clinical classes. Information regarding physical and nurse’s uniform will be given the first night of the class. 
SLED Background checks will be given by your employer.

You must have a current physical in order to participate in clinicals.  We do offer those at The Lifelong Learning Center through Lexington Medical Center - Occupational Health at a cost of $50.00.
 
There is a $101.00 Testing fee at the end of the course due to NACES, who administers the National Testing Certification.
 
 
Teacher’s Aide and Substitute Teacher

All applicants completing this training and passing the Parapro exam will be eligible for employment in SC as a Teaching Assistant. The class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:30 until 8:00 and will last 6 weeks. Begin date is September 15, 2009. The class is free. The Parapro exam is $50.00. The next Parapro / Substitute training class will be offered in the spring of 2010.

Anyone wishing to be a substitute in the district is also encouraged to attend this training.  There will be a representative from each school speaking to the class to explain substitute and teacher's aide procedures for their specific school.

 
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Classes are available at the Lifelong Learning Center 101W.Columbia Ave Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:30 - 8:30 pm.
  
First Steps Educational Programs (6 weeks to 10 years old) are available for families that participate in the First Steps Program. To register for this program call 532-0345 or 532-6861.   The fee for childcare is $10.00 per family.

Also offering WORK KEYS:
Earn a bronze, silver or gold work card.  Receive basic skills knowledge through private instruction as well as computer based learning systems.

Many employers are hiring through the work keys method.  Employment offices across the nation have rated jobs and the key skills necessary for the positions.  Work Keys will assess the current skills you have and issue a work card through computer based and teacher based learning and assessments.
